ICE Arrests Milo Yiannopoulos at New Orleans Airport for Visa Overstay

Milo Yiannopoulos, the British-born right-wing provocateur and early Trump booster, was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at the New Orleans airport on August 28, 2026. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed he had overstayed his visa and received a final deportation order in July, meaning removal from the United States is now a real possibility. Authorities publicized the arrest aggressively, circulating an unflattering mug shot and using the moment to warn other immigrants to self-deport.

Yiannopoulos entered the U.S. in 2015 on an O-1 visa — reserved for individuals with 'extraordinary ability' — to join the staff of Breitbart News. He became one of Trump's most visible cultural champions during the 2016 campaign but crashed spectacularly in early 2017 after video surfaced of him condoning sexual contact with boys as young as 13. CPAC rescinded a speaking invitation, and he resigned from Breitbart. He later worked as a staffer for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and for Ye's fashion brand, and claimed to have organized the infamous 2022 Trump-West dinner that also featured white nationalist Nick Fuentes.

The arrest has a distinctly internecine quality: right-wing activist Laura Loomer, a Trump confidante who once collaborated with Yiannopoulos, took direct credit for the detention. She says she tipped off the Department of Homeland Security about his expired visa status as far back as late 2024, and marked the occasion with her signature phrase — 'Loomered!' Former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio also cheered the news on X, writing 'Deport immediately. Good riddance.'

The irony is sharp: Yiannopoulos had enthusiastically championed Trump's mass deportation agenda, publicly calling for ICE checkpoints at supermarkets and gas stations and demanding full legal immunity for ICE agents on duty. The arrest fits a broader DHS pattern of targeting foreign nationals at airports — agents in plain clothes have been intercepting targets at check-in counters and arrival gates using airline data shared with the TSA.
