What Apple Intelligence Actually Includes

Apple Intelligence encompasses a broad collection of AI-powered tools integrated across iOS 18.1 and subsequent updates. Core features include Writing Tools, which can proofread, rewrite, or summarize text in Mail, Messages, Notes, and third-party apps. Notification summaries condense threads and group alerts intelligently, while Priority Messages in Mail surfaces time-sensitive emails at the top of the inbox.

Photo capabilities are among the most visible additions. Clean Up is a generative AI photo-editing tool that removes unwanted objects from images — a direct answer to Google's Magic Eraser. Smart Search in Photos lets users query their library in natural language, such as finding photos of a specific person at a specific location. Memories creation, which auto-generates video slideshows from the library, became more sophisticated and customizable with natural language prompts.

Siri received a significant upgrade in stages. Beginning with iOS 18.1, Siri gained improved natural language comprehension and on-screen awareness — the ability to understand and act on content visible on the display.
